  • Method 1: Creating a MetaMask Wallet on Desktop (Chrome, Brave, Firefox, etc.)

    Step 1: Download and Install the Extension

    1. Go to the official MetaMask website: https://metamask.io/

    4. On the next screen, you will create a password. This password only unlocks MetaMask on this specific browser and device. It does not recover your wallet if you lose your Secret Phrase.

    5. Click “Create a new wallet”.

    Step 3: Secure Your Secret Recovery Phrase (MOST CRITICAL STEP)

    1. You will now see a video and a warning about your Secret Recovery Phrase. Watch it carefully.

    2. Click “Reveal Secret Recovery Phrase”. You will see 12 random words in a specific order.

    3. Write these 12 words down on paper and store them in multiple secure, physical locations (e.g., a safe, a lockbox). Do not save it as a screenshot, text file, or in an email.

    4. After you have written it down, click “Next”.

    Step 4: Confirm Your Secret Recovery Phrase

    1. To ensure you wrote it down correctly, MetaMask will ask you to select the words in the correct order.

    2. Click on the words one by one to recreate your phrase.

    3. Once confirmed correctly, your wallet is ready!

    You will now see your main wallet interface, showing your account and a “Buy” and “Send” button.

    Method 2: Creating a MetaMask Wallet on Mobile (iOS & Android)

    The process is nearly identical to the desktop version.

    Step 1: Download the App

    1. Go to the App Store (for iOS) or Google Play Store (for Android).

    2. Search for “MetaMask” – ensure the developer is “Consensys Software Inc.” to avoid fake apps.

    3. Download and install the app.

    Step 2: Set Up Your Wallet

    1. Open the MetaMask app.

    2. Tap on “Get Started”.

    3. Tap on “Create a new wallet”.

    Step 3: Agree & Create Password

    1. You’ll be asked to agree (or not) to anonymous data collection.

    2. You will then create a password. Remember, this only unlocks the app on this phone.

    Step 4: Secure Your Secret Recovery Phrase

    1. You will see a security tutorial. Read it carefully.

    2. Tap “Start” to reveal your Secret Recovery Phrase.

    3. Write down the 12 words on paper and store them securely.

    4. Tap “I’ve written down these words” or similar.

    Step 5: Confirm Your Secret Recovery Phrase

    1. You will be presented with a series of word tiles. Tap them in the correct order to confirm you have your phrase.

    2. Once confirmed, your wallet is created and ready to use!
